Many organisations own land where public access is more or less incidental to the main purpose of the holdings. For example, Wildlife Trusts may own land primarily for conservation or water companies hold land for the purposes of water catchment and supply. Whatever the main purpose, land can be affected by public access, particularly since the Countryside & Rights of Way Act 2000.
